
The Odessa Opera Theatre is one of the greatest architectural monuments
in Ukraine and one of the most beautiful theatres in the world. The theatre
has the Italian facade in a Baroque taste, the entrance which is executed in
the Renaissance style decorated by statues of Aristofana and Evrepidy. Its
portal is decorated by the sculptural groups that allegorically represent
muses — patronesses of theatre, music, dance, a comedy and tragedy., Orfej
playing the music and cherubs who dance and sing. Here there are bustsof
Pushkin, Gogol, Griboedov and Glinka which as though represent poetry, a
comedy, a drama and music.
The auditorium is done in Louis XXVI style, it is
magnificently decorated by modelled ornaments with thin gilding, the
chandelier which weight about two and a half tone, a particular interest
causes a ceiling were are scenes from Shakespeare's poems «the Dream in a
moonlight night» are represented, «the Twelfth night», «As it will be

genres of musical theatre from classical operetta to rock opera, numerous

STAR" by M.Samoilov has been
recognized as the best performance among the Odessa theatres in 2006.
In totally in collective of theatre is about – 340 persons. The new modern
building of theatre with 1300 places is constructed in 1981, under the
project of Odessa architect Henry Topuza. Today it is one of the most
advanced and technically equipped theatrical platforms of Odessa Today
theatre practically has refused so-called Soviet repertoire, which earlier
was the basis for the theater.

Odessa Russian Dramatic Theater
The Odessa Russian theatre - the oldest theatre in the south of Ukraine, has
been constructed in 1874 by a merchant of Ampere-second. Velikov,
intended for performances of of his favourite drama troupe of the known
provincial actor and entrepreneur N.K.Miloslavskogo.
Initially the theatre carried the name by name the owner "Theatre Velikanova",
but in 1875 of Velikov has sold theatre to other owner - F.Rafalovichu who
has renamed the acquisition, naming it RUSSIAN THEATRE.
In 2003 the theatre
has opened after almost two years of reconstruction and major repairs. Today
at the Odessa Russian theatre there are performances directed by masters of
the Russian and Ukrainian direction of Leonid Heifetz and Edward Mitnitskogo,
the citizents of Odessa nowadays working in Moscow and St.-Petersburg -
Joseph Rajhelgauza, Boris Milgrama, George Kovtun, Anatoly Praudina, Alexey
Girby, Alexey Litvina's Russian directors. In theatre troupe there are - four
national actors of Ukraine - Lyudmila Satosova, Andrey Gonchar, Simeon
Krupnik, Oleg Shkolnik, - ten honoured artists of Ukraine, and a lot of
young people …
In repertoire - "Richard-III" of W.Shakespeare and "School of wives"
Z.-B.Molera, "the Cherry garden" A.Chehova, "Anna Karenina" of L.Tolstogo,
modern dramatic art. The anniversary season of 2004-2005 has opened theatre
three prime ministers - a performance of the well-known novel of Stendalja "Red
and black" (the scenic version and Alexey Girby's statement), a modern
melodrama of inhabitant of Odessa A.Mardanja "Sheet of expectations" (the
director - Joseph Rajhelgauz) and the original version of a drama of E.-m.
of Remarque "Last stop" which the theatre devotes to the 60 anniversary of
the Great Victory (scenic edition and Alexey Litvina's statement).
